still learning so much

For the last several days, I've been mentioning over and over again that I need to update my blog. Every time I think about it, I get overwhelmed. Last week, our team spent 4 days at a Muslim boarding school. The culture was very different than anything I've ever experienced before. The experience itself wasn't at all like I was expecting and I'm still trying to process it. However, I have been able to come to a few conclusions.
1) Life is way more valuable than I realized.
2) God used the fact that Paul was a Roman citizen for His glory. He'll also use the fact that my skin is white for His glory. In some places, Westerners are idolized. It doesn't matter who you are, if your skin is white, you are automatically viewed as better. It's not necessarily right, but that's the way it is and God can use me in different ways because of it.
3) Being uncomfortable gets easier when you surrender to God's will.
4) Jesus is absolutely essential to salvation and freedom. Yes, I knew that, but I discovered it in a whole new way last week. My view of who God is and what He offers has definitely deepened. I don't fully understand it. I don't think I ever will, but I really want to explore it more.
5) American hospitality, including mine, has A LOT of room for improvement. Still pondering the practics of that one as well.
That's just a few thoughts. Sorry some of it's vague, but there's a lot I don't know. Once I'm home feel free to ask me questions about the experience. Maybe I'll understand more then and if not, I'd love to talk through it anyway.
Right now, we're in Bali. We leave here Thursday night and fly back to the Philippines Sunday night. This summer has gone so fast. The hardest part of the trip is over and I'll be home in 2 1/2 weeks. But it's not over yet- God still has more good stuff in store.
